We’re pleased to share that Martin Lavery, Azora’s Chief Technology Officer, has been named to The Photonics100 2026—Electro Optics’ annual list highlighting 100 people advancing photonics across communications, sensing, lasers, integrated photonics, and quantum.

Martin’s career bridges academic research and applied communications: from novel optical receiver architectures and photonic integration to real-world free-space optical links. At Azora, he leads the design of our modular optical ground stations and the scaling strategy behind a global downlink network.

“Martin’s selection reflects the depth he brings to Azora’s technology stack—particularly in turning photonics breakthroughs into deployable communications infrastructure,” said James Schalkwyk, CEO.

“It’s an honor to be included,” said Martin Lavery. “This field moves fast and our focus is on building ground systems that make high-rate optical links practical at scale.”
